2020 SUMMER YOUTH & JUNIOR PROGRAM GUIDE
The summer of 2020 is obviously a challenging time for everyone. It is my hope that the Barracuda Tri Summer Program can offer some relief to parents and active young athletes. Triathlon is a FUN and challenging sport. All three disciplines, swim, bike, & run, are things kids do every day, and this is a sport they can do for a lifetime!
PROGRAM SCHEDULE: JULY 6TH – AUGUST 28TH
LEVEL 1 (7-11 YRS. OLD): MONDAY & WEDNESDAY 6-7PM
LOCATIONS: MON – SUNY Purchase Lot W2 (Cycling & Running Skills)
WED – Rye Town Park/Oakland Beach (Open Water Swim)
*($50 season permit required for RTP)
8 WEEK PROGRAM FEE: $325

LEVEL 2 (11-14 YRS. OLD): WEDNESDAY 6-7PM & FRIDAY 6-7:30PM

LEVEL 3 (13-18 YRS. OLD): TU/TH 6:30-7:30PM & SATURDAY 10:00-11:00AM
LOCATIONS: SAT – SUNY Purchase Lot W2 (Cycling & Running Skills)
TU/TH – Rye Town Park/Oakland Beach (Open Water Swim)
*($50 season permit required for RTP)
8 WEEK PROGRAM FEE: $400

*To swim at RTP you need an Open Water Swim Permit. Go to www.townofryeny.com and scroll to Open Water Swim Permit and follow directions.
PRERECQUISITES:
Athletes must be able to swim two lengths (50yd) of the pool front crawl (freestyle), be comfortable in the open water, have a bike in working condition, and helmet.
EQUIPMENT LIST:
*Bike / Bike Trainer (optional) / Bike Helmet (required)
**Bike Shoes (optional) / Bike Shorts (optional) / Running Shoes
Running Shorts / Swimsuit / Swim Goggles (2 pair)
Swim Cap / Socks / T-shirt
Hat/Visor (optional) / Towel (2-3) / Water bottle
*Level 3 athletes need a road bike
**Level 3 athletes need bike shoes to clip in and out.
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS:
– All athletes will be required to have a mask. (they will need to wear it when proper social distancing is not possible – they do not need it while swimming, but will need it on the beach before heading to the water)
– All coaches will wear masks whenever proper social distancing is not possible.
– During each practice, every effort will be made to keep a minimum of 6ft distance between athletes.
– Athletes will be required to report daily temperature to the coach and potentially have their temp checked each practice.
– If an athlete is sick, they are required to stay home.
– All athletes and coaches will have their own hand sanitizer at each practice.
OTHER NOTES:
– All athletes will be required to submit a signed waiver before they can participate in any practice. Waiver will be supplied upon receipt of registration fee.
– There are no bathroom facilities at SUNY Purchase. Please make sure to “go” before leaving for practice.
– HELMETS are required to ride! No helmet, no riding!
– DO NOT FORGET WATER!
– Have 2 PAIRS of working goggles!
– In the event of bad weather, every effort will be made to have a make up practice. Please understand however, that Coach Jeff has not control over Mother Nature! Decisions to cancel a practice are usually made as “game time” decisions. If it’s just raining, we will still ride & run. Rye Town Park will make all decisions regarding canceling open water swims.
