Another great ride today. Where was everyone? I know there was a race in La Marque and at big ride in Katy, but...

We ride every Sunday at 6:30 am. You do not have to check here to see if we are riding. Just show up and roll. Hope the bridge riders had a great ride today! We can add the bridges in on the JBB route if there is interest.

We had 6 today. Thats not many. Where are yall?

We ride from JBB down to the race and watched it for about 30 minutes then out to WeeMart. The tracks were under construction so we could not go far down Mustang Road. Instead we returned to Hwy 6 to Bus 35 then 528 through Friendswood to 518.

It was a great urban ride. Lots of improvization today. We had fun. Next week should be more typical.

The Kemah bridge ride started out good but ended short when my gears got stuck and I couldn't shift out of the front small ring! Nothing like spinning all the way back to your car! We did get in two passes over the bridge a before I had to head back, so it wasn't a total bust!!

I actually did the weemart route today. I thought I would run into you guys, but I guess since you went by the race, I was far ahead. It's funny. For the first time that I can remember I got caught at the tracks by a train. And believe it or not, I think there was a malfunction at the tracks because the gates never re-opened. So I looked both ways and walked my bike across. Then I continued on past weemart so that I could get 70 in. Then on my way back, I found that after I crossed those tracks, they closed the road off and there was a bunch of bull dozers, etc. tearing things up. So I backed tracked and eventually found my way to 35 and rode home from there.

Hmm, we must have just missed each other! I made it out to Wee Mart and beyond, also crossed at the malfunctioning gates, however was able to sneak across the tracks before they closed them (I followed a railroad truck) and ended up meeting the gang on hwy 6. It was fun, and the weather was perfect. Only started to heat up for the last 10 home.

I was driving to the Bayou Duathlon this morning when I saw you guys cruising down the outer road. My legs started twitching! I'll be back next weekend!

Are there beginners every week on these rides? I'm looking for 20 miles at like a 16mph-18mph pace?

Yes, there's a slight change of plans this weekend only. This Sunday we're going to meet at the school parking lot across for Anders Lake (Clear Falls High School I think). Some people are swimming at Anders starting at 6:30. The bike ride will start at 7:30.

The bike route is posted here: http://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/tx/ke ... 0486414912 some people will be riding shorter routes and will just do an out and back depending on their distance.

See you guys Sunday!

Yes 60ish miles. from JBB at 630. The roads are still screwed up back on Mustaing-Algoa road so I've come up with a new route featuring "The Bridges of Galveston County" and a points challenge.

Route: JBB-Calder-96-146-2X Kemah Bridge-146-(Bacliff Loop)-146-over Dickinson Bayou Bridge-Turnaround at Attwater Ave.
Repeat in reverse. (Please ride bike forward.)

Bacliff Loop: Gordy Rd. (turn at Lipstick's) - W. Bayshore Dr.-FM517 back to 146

It's easy to follow on Google Earth if you want to see the route before the ride.

Beginners/Those wanting a shorter route can skip the Kemah bridge by looping under the south side of the bridge then heading back up 96. You can also skip the Bacliff loop and end up with 22mi. To get all 22mi you need to loop under the south side of the Kemah bridge on the way back in as well. If you add the Bacliff Loop you add on about 24 miles. So there are several options on this route.

Points:
1st - 3pts
2nd - 2pts
3rd - 1pt

Multipliers:

Hwy 3 RR tracks #1: 1x
Kemah #1: 1x
Kemah #2:2x
Kemah #3:1x
Kemah #4:2x
Dickinson Bayou #1: 1x
Dickinson Bayou #2: 1x
Kemah #5:1x
Kemah #6:2x
Kemah #7:1x
Kemah #8:2x
Hwy 3 RR tracks #2: 4x

Polka dot Burritos for the mens and womens winner!
